Malaysian rainforest jungle fishing

A day's fishing trip in Johor.
                                          3.8kg Sebarau

                                                    Good size of 1.8 kg.

3.9 kg. River Toman. Tougher than a 7 kg. toman in lakes

Launching a boat at a steep riverbank in jungle river is quite a tough task which most anglers will shy away. Only a few of my fishing buddies who are adventurous would join me on this type of fishing trips.
Tough in a sense that we need to push and pull the boat across sunken tree trunks in swift river's current with outboard motor intact.
Casting onboard need skillful casting techniques where  overhead and double hand cast are almost impossible due to the overgrown trees and branches hanging above us which not even sunlight could shine through. So, short and tough rods with bait cast reel were used. Side cast, backhand cast and underhand cast were only applicable. Lures hooks were changed from treble to single hooks because most targeted spot were snaggy with sunken trees structures and almost invisible from a moving boat.
Small injuries with bruises on our legs and backaches are common after a day's fishing. Most of times we need to get down to the chilly water to push and pull the boat through due to shallow shoal and fallen trees obstructions. Beneath our feet are unseen debris with thorny branches, sharp rocks structures will often cause us yelling with pains. Not a chance that our clothing would get dry. But we like that.

This is a test of endurance and I am 57 years of age. I am proud that my buddies are only at their thirties and lay dead half way through the fishing trip where I just relax and breathing slowly with no complain. Bravo to me.
Fishes caught were mostly released after photographed.  A fish for dinner dish for fish that not likely to survive after a tough fight.

Fish species caught were Sebarau( Jungle Perch), Toman( Giant Snakehead) and
Toman Bunga.
